HUM115 Week 5 Applying Critical Thinking Reflection_template....2019

Over the past five weeks you have learned about different elements related to critical thinking. You related the concepts to your personal experiences, and evaluated your critical thinking skills. You've identified fallacies, evaluated arguments, and learned the role of these concepts in your daily life. Now it's time to apply the concepts together. In this assignment, you will review a real-world scenario and apply the critical thinking skills you have developed.

Review the Critical Thinking Scenario.

Write a 350- to 700-word reflection on the scenario, using the Reflection Template. Follow the instructions within the template to complete your reflection. You will need to include an introduction paragraph to introduce your reader to the topics you will be discussing; 3 body paragraphs, each with specific questions that need to be addressed within; and a conclusion paragraph to bring your paper to a close.

Note: The Reflection Template is already formatted appropriately, and you do not need to make any changes to the format. Be sure to demonstrate your critical thinking abilities in your responses to the questions, and ensure your paper flows well from topic to topic.

HUM115 Week 3 Identifying Fallacies Assessment

In this week's readings and activities, you learned about errors in thinking and informal fallacies. Both of these can occur in arguments, and they affect the overall quality of the argument.
Complete the Identifying Fallacies Assessment by following the instructions within the assessment. The final page of the assessment will provide you with a summary of your score and a confirmation that your results have been sent to your faculty member. You will not need to submit anything additional.
Note: You will have 1 attempt at each question. If you leave the assessment before it is completed, your progress will be saved, but you cannot revisit any questions that have already been completed.

Identifying Fallacies Assessment
This week, you learned that fallacies are errors in logic that present themselves in a variety of formats. It is important that you can recognize fallacies when they occur in real-life situations. In this assessment, you will be presented with 14 different real-life examples of fallacies. Some examples will be presented as a graphic or photograph. Others will be contained in audio or video clips.  After reviewing each example, you will be given a list of possible fallacies presented in the example. Your goal is to identify the fallacy presented in the material you just experienced.
This is not a timed assessment, so be thoughtful in your responses.

ENG200 Week 3 Argument Paper Rough Draft

Now that you have outlined your paper, it is time to start your rough draft. A rough draft should expand on the ideas you included in your outline, and should include introduction and conclusion paragraphs as well as transitional statements between topics in your body paragraphs. This rough draft will compile all the content for your paper in a cohesive manner, and present your full argument.

It is important to think about how to integrate the research you have gathered into your paper. You have a voice, and your voice matters. The research you have found should be used to provide support to your voice and your argument. Extensive quotations or even paraphrased text are not always appropriate or helpful. You should try to limit these to no more than three to five instances throughout your paper. Use the learning activities, discussions, and resources from the Center for Writing Excellence to assist you with appropriately creating and using in-text citations to acknowledge where you have integrated your research within your rough draft.

Write your Argument Paper Rough Draft using the APA Paper Template. Your paper should be 700 to 1,050 words.

Create robust body paragraphs to present your full argument by expanding on the topics in your outline.

  • Ensure each body paragraph has a topic sentence.
  • Incorporate the research you have gathered to support your argument.
  • Make your best attempt at formatting in-text citations and a reference page, which you will learn more about in Week 4. You may use the Reference and Citation Generator to help you construct your citations and references.

Create an introduction paragraph that includes your thesis statement and introduces your reader to the main topics included in your paper.

Create a conclusion paragraph to bring your paper to a close.

Ensure your paper includes the following elements prior to submission:

  • A title page
  • An introduction paragraph with a thesis statement that clearly states your argument.
  • APA-formatted level 1 headings for each main topic
  • A topic sentence to begin each body paragraph under each main topic
  • No more than three to five instances of paraphrased or directly quoted material integrated throughout the paper, followed by the appropriate APA-formatted citation
  • A conclusion paragraph
  • A reference page with a reference listing for a minimum of three peer-reviewed sources

Access the Center for Writing Excellence on eCampus and utilize the Grammar Checking Tools and the Plagiarism Checker to review your paper. Review and apply any recommended changes.

ENG200 Week 2 Argument Paper Outline - Template

To ensure you include the appropriate elements in your argument paper, you must organize all of your research. This assignment will help you to determine what pieces of research you would like to include in your paper, and which claims and statements the selected research will support. The outline you create will be used as the basis for the Week 5 Final Argument Paper assignment. Follow these step-by-step instructions as they are presented, to guide you through the assignment.

FIN 630 -Acme strategic options

The Acme Company is exploring many strategic options. Whichever global business strategy the Acme Company eventually chooses, the firm inevitably will require the services of a bank to help manage its working capital. Many major multinational banks provide a variety of working capital and multinational cash management services. Here is a list of Acme's assumptions:

• It will have subsidiaries in South America and Asia that import materials and parts and assemble for export.

• It wants to centralize cash management.

• It needs local lending sources for operating cash.

• It needs short-term investment vehicles for excess cash balances.

• It needs foreign exchange and forward market services.

• It will have bills to pay in both local and other currencies.

Using the websites of a variety of these cross-border banks (starting with the banks listed below), search out the international banks that offer multinational cash management services that combine banking with foreign exchange management. Select one bank and describe how the services it offers will take care of Acme's international working capital management requirements. Be sure to demonstrate why you believe your choice is the best alternative among the banks you investigated (i.e., compare and contrast). • Bank of America at http://www.bankofamerica.com/index.cfm?page=corp • HSBC at http://www.hsbc.com/1/2/ • Citibank at http://www.citi.com/domain/home.htm

FIN 630 Acme in China paper-2019

Long-term investment projects require a thorough understanding of all attributes of doing business in that country, including import/export restrictions, labor relations, supplier financing, tax rules, depreciation schedules, currency properties and restrictions, and sources of short-term and long-term debt, to name a few. China is currently the focus of investment and market penetration strategies of multinational firms worldwide including Acme. Your supervisor has asked you to gather information on some of these factors that your company or any MNE would want to consider when doing business in China. (This is the primary focus of this assignment.) As you begin your research, you realize your company would make a significant profit from doing business in China. You also discover that policies on employee welfare, labor relations, etc. are the antithesis of what your CEO firmly believes. Do you include this information in your report, or just provide the strategic information you were asked to gather? (Please respond to this ethics question in a paragraph or two).

Use the Library and other Internet sources (you might start with the web sites listed here), to collect the information. • Extract from Guide to Doing Business in China http://www.hktdc.com/info/mi/bgcn/en/Guide-To-Doing-Business-In-China.htm • China Business Etiquette http://www.cyborlink.com/besite/china.htm

FIN 630 Acme Greenfield Term Paper

As part of its international expansion program, Acme, a U.S. multinational enterprise (MNE), is currently in the planning stages of establishing a Greenfield (see text glossary for definition) production facility overseas. You have been asked to present a proposal to the steering committee comparing the advantages and disadvantages of starting operations in one of two selected foreign countries. The steering committee has determined that one alternative must be a member of the European Union (EU) while the other cannot be a member of the EU. Subject to these conditions, you may choose any two foreign countries, except China, India, Czech Republic, and Romania for comparison. Deliverable: There are many factors to consider in your comparative analysis. Please be sure to include, among other topics, a discussion of the different countries' currencies, trade policies and cultural variables that may affect operations and profitability in each country. Your report should conclude with a recommendation and supporting rationale as to which country should be selected for the new facility.

FIN 630 Acme Czeck Forex Answer

Acme is also considering the acquisition of a firm in the Czech Republic and would like your opinion on this. It plans to operate the firm for 3 years and then reevaluate the holding.
Free Cash flows are estimated as follows:
• Year 1 - 38.63M Czech Koruna (CZK), Year 2 - 44.33 M CZK,
• Year 3 - 50.48M CZK
• The third year terminal value is estimated at 375M CZK.
The Czech Koruna's exchange rate is assumed to be .038 USD/CZK for each year. Acme uses a WACC of 13 % for its domestic projects. So, the PV of the FCF's for the firm is 363.78 M CZK or $13.82M. The Czech firm has 1,000,000 shares outstanding and a debt to equity ratio of 1:1. Current market price is 185 CZK per share.
All monetary information (except per share) should be presented in CZK millions (i.e., do not convert to USD).
1. Should Acme make a deal if its policy is to never exceed a 20% premium in any tender offer? To defend your position, you must prepare and present an Excel template that includes the calculated fair value premium over market.
2. What changes in the analysis or additional analysis do you suggest before a final decision should be made?
3. Using the DCF methodology required in question 1, please take one of your suggestions and reevaluate the buy-out. To complete this question, you will have to present a second Excel template that includes your new assumed values and supports your recommendations. Further, please comply with the following:
• Assumptions must be reasonable – i.e., don't select arbitrary values. Some discussion should be provided that explains how you arrived at your new assumed values.
• Variable changes should be restricted to the discount rate, the FCFs, and/or the terminal value. Please present only one set of assumptions (e.g., do not submit a table that includes multiple values for the same variables.)
• To demonstrate that you have successfully prepared the Excel template, no two students may use the same values. To help ensure that your values are unique, please use a minimum of three significant (i.e., non-zero) digits to the right of the decimal point.

FIN 630 Acme and acquisition of EU non-EU

Acme, a United States firm, has been in acquisition talks with two different European firms. JEL Industries is headquartered in a country that is part of the European Union (EU), and uses the Euro, while DBC Industries is headquartered in a European country that does not belong to the Union and does not use the Euro as their primary currency. Based only on the knowledge of whether or not the firm is located in a country within or outside of the European Union, recommend one of the organizations and explain why you selected that organization. In your response be sure to describe the implications of running a business in a country that is within or outside of the European Union. Describe the advantages and disadvantages of the choice you made

ACC 561– Ideal Manufacturing Company- 8.8.2017

ACC 561–Managerial Perspective Analysis - Ideal Manufacturing Company

MANAGERIAL ANALYSIS

BYP17-2 Ideal Manufacturing Company of Sycamore, Illinois, has supported a research and development (R&D) department that has for many years been the sole contributor to the company's new farm machinery products. The R&D activity is an overhead cost center that provides services only to in-house manufacturing departments (four different product lines), all of which produce agricultural/farm/ranch related machinery products. The department has never sold its services outside, but because of its long history of success, larger manufacturers of agricultural products have approached Ideal to hire its R&D department for special projects. Because the costs of operating the R&D department have been spiraling uncontrollably, Ideal's management is considering entertaining these outside approaches to absorb the increasing costs. But, (1) management doesn't have any cost basis for charging R&D services
to outsiders, and (2) it needs to gain control of its R&D costs. Management decides to implement an activity-based costing system in order to determine the charges for both outsiders and the inhouse users of the department's services.

R&D activities fall into four pools with the following annual costs.

Market analysis                                   $1,050,000

Product design                                    2,350,000

Product development                         3,600,000

Prototype testing                                 1,400,000

Activity analysis determines that the appropriate cost drivers and their usage for the four activities are:

Total
Activities                     Cost Drivers               Estimated Drivers

Market analysis           Hours of analysis        15,000 hours

Product design            Number of designs      2,500 designs

Product development Number of products    90 products

Prototype testing         Number of tests          500 tests

Instructions

(a) Compute the activity-based overhead rate for each activity cost pool.

(b) How much cost would be charged to an in-house manufacturing department that consumed 1,800 hours of market analysis time, was provided 280 designs relating to 10 products, and requested 92 engineering tests?

(c) How much cost would serve as the basis for pricing an R&D bid with an outside company on a contract that would consume 800 hours of analysis time, require 178 designs relating to 3 products, and result in 70 engineering tests?

(d) What is the benefit to Ideal Manufacturing of applying activity-based costing to its R&D activity for both in-house and outside charging purposes?

ECO561 Week 6 Signature Assignment Challenges of Expansion to a Foreign Location

Purpose of Assignment

This week students will review and revise their Week 3 Research Analysis for Business Signature Assignment based on economic analysis and the feedback provided by their facilitator. Students will also expand their Week 3 analyses to evaluate the challenges of expanding their chosen company's production to a foreign market.

About Your Signature Assignment

This signature assignment is designed to align with specific program student learning outcome(s) in your program. Program Student Learning Outcomes are broad statements that describe what students should know and be able to do upon completion of their degree. The signature assignments might be graded with an automated rubric that allows the University to collect data that can be aggregated across a location or college/school and used for program improvements.

Assignment Steps

Resources: Tutorial help on Excel® and Word functions can be found on the Microsoft® Office website. There are also additional tutorials via the web offering support for Office products.

Revise your Week 3 assignment, Research Analysis for Business, using the feedback provided by your facilitator. This Week 6 report should only include one conclusion, so you will need to rewrite the conclusion you included in your Week 3 assignment, Research Analysis for Business.

Select a foreign market in which to expand your chosen product. If you wish, you may use one of the countries your team analyzed in their Week 5 Comparative and Absolute Advantage Assignment.

Prepare a minimum1,750-word report addressing the points listed below. The use of tables and/or charts to display economic data over the time period discussed is highly encouraged, you may submit any economic data in Microsoft® Excel® format in a separate file. You may use the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), U.S. Dept. of Commerce's Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA), the Federal Reserve of St. Louis's FRED data, the CIA World Fact Book, World Bank data, and World Trade Organization, or other appropriate sources you might find on the Internet or in the University Library. The new sections of your report should:

  • Evaluate current global economic conditions and their effects on macroeconomic indicators in your selected country. Provide forecasts for population growth, gross domestic product (GDP) growth, GDP per capita growth, export growth, and sales growth.
  • Evaluate any competitors' existing production in the chosen country.
  • Assess sales forecasts in the selected country by using the Federal Reserve of St. Louis's FRED data, the CIA World Fact Book, World Bank data, World Trade Organization, or other appropriate sources you might find on the Internet or in the University Library.
  • Categorize the type of economy that exists in your selected country as closed, mixed, or market.  What is the difference between these types of economies and how might this affect your expansion?
  • Assess how your chosen country's current credit market conditions, especially interest rates and the availability of financing, affect demand for your product or service and your planning or operating decision for your production in that country.
  • Analyze the role of the selected country's central bank on that country's economy.
  • Compare the availability, education, and job skills of the work force in the selected country. Discuss any additional challenges of international production, such as political stability, availability of government financing or other incentives, threat of capital controls, and exchange rate risks.
  • Explain any additional supply chain challenges you anticipate if attempting to make your product in your chosen country and selling the product in other countries.
  • Based on the data gathered and analysis performed for this report write a conclusion in which you:
    • Create business strategies, including price and non-price strategies, based on your market structure to ensure the market share and potential market expansions and explore global opportunities for your business in a dynamic business environment and provide recommendations.
    • Develop a recommendation for how the firm can manage its future production by synthesizing the macroeconomic and microeconomic data presented.
    • Propose how the firm's position within the market and among its competitors will allow it to take your recommended action.
    • Recommend strategies for the firm to sustain its success going forward by evaluating the findings from demand trends, price elasticity, current stage of the business cycle, and government.
    • Recommend any comparative advantages your company will have over competitors currently operating in that country, and defend your position, either for or against, expanding your company's production into your chosen country based on your research.

Integrate with the Week 3 Individual Assignment, and incorporate corrections and suggestions from the instructor's feedback. The final report should be a minimum of 2,800 words.

Cite a minimum of three peer reviewed sources not including the textbook.

Include all peer-reviewed references and government economic data sources/references from Week 3.

Format your assignment consistent with APA guidelines.

ECO561 Final Exam Score 97 PERCENT (2019)

Question 1
The fact that international specialization and trade based on comparative advantage can increase world output is demonstrated by the reality that:
the production possibilities curves of any two nations are identical
a nation's production possibilities line lies to the right of its trading possibilities line
a nation's trading possibilities line lies to the right of its production possibilities line
a nation's production possibilities and trading possibilities lines coincide

Question 2
The business cycle depicts:

the phases a business goes through from when it first opens to when it finally closes
the evolution of technology over time
short-run fluctuations in output and employment(Probably wrong, not sure. Either answer of question 1 is wrong or question2 is wrong)
fluctuations in the general price level

3.Which of the following have substantially equivalent effects on a nation's volume of exports and imports?

Exchange rate depreciation and domestic inflation

Exchange rate depreciation and domestic deflation

Exchange rate appreciation and domestic deflation

Exchange rate appreciation and a decrease in the domestic supply of money

4If an unintended increase in business inventories occurs at some level of GDP, then GDP:

may be either above or below the equilibrium output

is too high for equilibrium

is too low for equilibrium

entails a rate of aggregate expenditures in excess of the rate of aggregate production

5Why are economists concerned about inflation?

Inflation lowers the standard of living for people whose income does not increase as fast as the price level

Inflation increases the value of peoples' saving and encourages overspending on goods and services

Inflation generally causes unemployment rates to rise

Real GDP is necessarily falling when there is inflation

6Contractionary fiscal policy is so named because it:

involves a contraction of the nation's money supply

is aimed at reducing aggregate demand and thus achieving price stability

necessarily reduces the size of government

is expressly designed to expand real GDP
7The term "recession" describes a situation where:

government takes a less active role in economic matters

output and living standards decline

inflation rates exceed normal levels

an economy's ability to produce is destroyed

8Which of the following statements best describes the 12 Federal Reserve Banks?

They are privately owned and publicly controlled central banks whose basic goal is to earn profits for their owners.

They are privately owned and publicly controlled central banks whose basic goal is to control the money supply and interest rates in promoting the general economic welfare.

They are privately owned and publicly controlled central banks whose basic function is to minimize the risks in commercial banking in order to make it a reasonably profitable industry.

They are privately owned and privately controlled central banks whose basic goal is to provide an ample and orderly market for U.S. Treasury securities.

9The primary gain from international trade is:

tariff revenue

more goods than would be attainable through domestic production alone

increased employment in the domestic import sector

increased employment in the domestic export sector

10If the prices of all goods and services rose, but the quantity produced remained unchanged, what would happen to nominal and real GDP?

Nominal and real GDP would both rise

Real GDP would rise, but nominal GDP would be unchanged

Nominal GDP would rise, but real GDP would be unchanged

Nominal and real GDP would both be unchanged

11Pure monopolists may obtain economic profits in the long run because:

of rising average fixed costs

of barriers to entry

of advertising

marginal revenue is constant as sales increase

12Mrs. Arnold is spending all her money income by buying bottles of soda and bags of pretzels in such amounts that the marginal utility of the last bottle is 60 utils and the marginal utility of the last bag is 30 utils. The prices of soda and pretzels are $.60 per bottle and $.40 per bag respectively. It can be concluded that:

the two commodities are substitute goods

Mrs. Arnold should spend more on soda and less on pretzels

Mrs. Arnold should spend more on pretzels and less on soda

Mrs. Arnold is buying soda and pretzels in the utility-maximizing amounts

13Suppose you have a limited money income and you are purchasing products A and B, whose prices happen to be the same. To maximize your utility, you should purchase A and B in such amounts that:

their marginal and total utilities are proportionate

their marginal utilities are the same

the income and substitution effects associated with each are equal

their total utilities are the same

14Two major virtues of the market system are that it:

eliminates discrimination and minimizes environmental pollution

allocates resources efficiently and allows economic freedom

results in price level stability and a fair personal distribution of income

results in an equitable personal distribution of income and always maintains full employment

15Macroeconomics approaches the study of economics from the viewpoint of:

the entire economy

governmental units

individual firms

the operation of specific product and resource markets

16Which of the following will generate a demand for country X's currency in the foreign exchange market?

The imports of country X

Travel by citizens of country X in other countries

The desire of foreigners to buy stocks and bonds of firms in country X

Charitable contributions by country X's citizens to citizens of developing nations

17The simple circular flow model shows that:

households are on the buying side of both product and resource markets.

businesses are on the selling side of both product and resource markets.

businesses are on the buying side of the product market and on the selling side of the resource market.

households are on the selling side of the resource market and on the buying side of the product market.

18Countercyclical discretionary fiscal policy calls for:

surpluses during both recessions and periods of demand-pull inflation

surpluses during recessions and deficits during periods of demand-pull inflation

deficits during recessions and surpluses during periods of demand-pull inflation

deficits during both recessions and periods of demand-pull inflation

19If the Federal Reserve System buys government securities from commercial banks and the public:

commercial bank reserves will decline

the money supply will contract

it will be easier to obtain loans at commercial banks

commercial bank reserves will be unaffected

20The two basic markets shown by the simple circular flow model are:

product and resource

free and controlled

capital goods and consumer goods

household and business

21All else equal, a large decline in the real interest rate will shift the:

investment demand curve rightward

investment demand curve leftward

investment schedule downward

investment schedule upward

22Normal profit is:

determined by subtracting implicit costs from total revenue

the return to the entrepreneur when economic profits are zero

the average profitability of an industry over the preceding 10 years

determined by subtracting explicit costs from total revenue

23In the theory of comparative advantage, a good should be produced in that nation where:

its absolute cost in terms of real resources used is least

its cost is least in terms of alternative goods that might otherwise be produced

the production possibilities line lies further to the right than the trading possibilities line

its absolute money cost of production is least

24As output increases, total variable cost:

increases continuously at a decreasing rate

increases at a constant rate

increases more rapidly than does total cost

increases at a decreasing rate and then at an increasing rate

25Assume the reserve ratio is 25 percent and Federal Reserve Banks buy $4 million of U.S. securities from the public, which deposits this amount into checking accounts. As a result of these transactions, the supply of money is:

directly increased by $4 million and the money-creating potential of the commercial banking system is increased by $12 million.

directly increased by $4 million and the money-creating potential of the commercial banking system is increased by an additional $16 million.

not directly affected, but the money-creating potential of the commercial banking system is increased by $12 million.

directly reduced by $4 million and the money-creating potential of the commercial banking system is decreased by an additional $12 million.

26Buyers will opt out of markets in which:

standardized products are being produced

there are only foreign sellers

there are significant negative externalities

there is inadequate information about sellers and their products

27In order for mutually beneficial trade to occur between two otherwise isolated nations:

each nation must be able to produce at least one good absolutely cheaper than the other

each nation must face constant costs in the production of the good it exports

each nation must be able to produce at least one good relatively cheaper than the other

one nation's production must be labor-intensive while the other nation's production is capital-intensive

28Research for industrially advanced countries indicates that:

the more independent the central bank, the higher the average annual rate of inflation

there is no relationship between the degree of independence of a country's central bank and its inflation rate.

the more independent the central bank, the higher the average annual rate of unemployment.

the more independent the central bank, the lower the average annual rate of inflation

29A monopolistically competitive industry combines elements of both competition and monopoly. The monopoly element results from:

the likelihood of collusion

mutual interdependence

high entry barriers

product differentiation

30Because the federal government typically provides disaster relief to farmers, many farmers do not buy crop insurance even through it is federally subsidized. This illustrates:

the moral hazard problem

logrolling

the adverse selection problem

the special interest effect
